Job Description

As a Mobile Telematics Engineer, you will be the on-the-ground expert responsible for installing telematic devices into vehicles across diverse client sites. This role combines hands-on technical installation work with direct customer interaction, requiring both strong technical expertise and a personable, professional approach. You will travel regularly across the UK from a base in Milton Keynes, working Monday to Friday on a 45-hour working week. Your responsibilities will encompass the complete installation lifecycle—from device wiring and configuration to ensuring seamless connectivity and system reliability. Every installation you complete plays a vital role in helping businesses enhance vehicle safety, efficiency, and fleet management capabilities. This is a varied role that blends technical problem-solving with the satisfaction of delivering quality solutions that make a real difference to clients across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install telematic devices into various vehicle types, ensuring proper wiring, configuration, and secure mounting at each client site
  • Conduct system testing and connectivity verification to guarantee all installations meet quality and reliability standards
  • Travel to client locations across the UK, liaising directly with customers to understand requirements and represent the company's high professional standards
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges and implement solutions to resolve technical issues on-site
  • Document installation work accurately and maintain detailed records of all completed projects
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and vehicle-specific installation guidelines
  • Provide clear communication to clients regarding installation timelines, technical specifications, and post-installation support

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with proven experience in telematics engineering, vehicle technology installation, or related technical fields. The ideal candidate will combine solid technical competency with genuine customer-facing skills, demonstrating the ability to represent the company professionally while working independently at client sites. You should be comfortable with regular travel, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple installations with attention to detail and quality. Above all, we seek someone who takes pride in technical work, communicates clearly with clients, and understands that each installation contributes to real business value.

Experience & Expertise Required:

  • Proven experience installing telematic or vehicle technology systems, or equivalent hands-on technical installation background
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring practices, and device configuration
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment used in telematics installation
  • Knowledge of connectivity protocols and system integration relevant to fleet management solutions
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK
  • Ability to read technical documentation, schematics, and installation manuals
